i feel like ive learned 500 life lessons in the past 48 hours. if you asked what my plans for the week were the morning this all begun i wouldnt have had any. somehow it has been the most random, full, bizarre two days of my summer, maybe even this year. santa cruz, fremont, oakland, sf, richmond. house parties, kick its, shows. nortes, skateboarders, hyphy kids, smooth talkers. i need a whole week to recover and evaluate how i feel about all of it. this doesnt even begin to sum it up.

amanda and i have had some wild times in the past few days. we also learned a few valuable lessons. -always look before going in reverse but it was still fun. |

it was a lot of fun. i got in a little sisterly bonding in before kay headed off to africa. being away from all the things bringing me down also helped give me a new perspective. a lot of things smoothed themselves out. im feelin positive again. i didnt take a lot of pictures. im not incredibly proud of the pictures i did take, but theyre more for snapshot purposes.

im sort of in a funk. only sort of. im disappointed in about 45% of the people who usually occupy my time. so i asked myself, "jazmin, is it possible that YOURE the real root of the problem?" and after some deep thinking i came to the conclusion that in these scenarios i am not the fuckhead. so, im going to new york tomorrow. im sure ill have plenty of time during this trip to re-evaluate these relationships. hopefully i'll come back with a more positive frame of mind. and hopefully ill come back with some nice clothes, too. |

friday night my sister had a luau and she hired me to take pictures. she decorated our backyard and everything looked really beautiful. i took a lot of pictures, but here are the ones i liked best.
last night i met up with alex for dinner. afterwards we stopped by the castro which was full of people and music for Pride this weekend. from there he and i met up with indy and veronica and went to a party. it was a lot of fun, besides the part where i was a lame drunk girl who broke a lamp/light thing. buuuuuut, other than that it was a good time.
last week i did end up going to the job interview with crown city rockers. i went to their studio in oakland which also happens to be the studio where En Vogue did a bunch of records, hahah. i had to watch some of my videos with them which was incredibly nerve racking but they were actually impressed. afterward they said theyd have a meeting and get back to me to let me know if i was hired. much to my delight, i didnt even make it to my car before one of the members ran out to tell me i got the job. it's really cool. i have to get used to working nights but im thoroughly enjoying myself. oh yeah, and im going to new york again on wednesday. this time i wont be filming so you can expect pictures! |

fuck yeah! i've had this for a year now. i dont take photography very seriously, but it do think it's interesting to see how my style has evolved over the past months. im pleased with my progress. yesterday consisted of the following.
in a few hours im going to meet crown city rockers. they're recording a new album and want to film the entire process. bavc hooked my up with the job and it's a huge opportunity. if their label likes the video it could be sold to promote the cd. not to mention the fact that they make really tight music. i've pretty much got the job, but i have to meet the band to make sure they like me. i also have to sit there while they watch all my old videos. im nervous, but i feel pretty confident about the whole thing. |

new york was really great. i went to a lot of cool places and met a lot of cool people. im working on editing the footage i took there. hopefully i'll be done before the end of the month and i'll post it up here. meanwhile, here are a few pictures taken this weekend.

prom was nice, but sort of disappointing. the music sucked and the boat smelled like a sour crotch. my birthday was chill in a reeeally good way. tomorrow i leave for new york. i had this whole idea for how my weekend would go. NOTHING went the way i'd expected it to, but i had one of the best weekends in a while. janelle's party jacket made numerous appearences.
i woke up this morning with genuine skid marks on the outside of my underwear. not from poop or anything sexual, but from the street. real, bona fide skid marks. how's that for a crazy night?

had a good weekend. not a lot of sleep, but that's disposable. my trip to new york is booked! we're going because the documentary nick and i made has been accepted to the media that matters film festival. the tickets and hotel are being paid for by my work. i get to go with nick and my boss, kirthi. im not positive, but i think we'll be there or 5 days or so. in that week and a half ill be going to prom, celebrating my birthday, and going to new york! im psyched. if you want to see the films accepted in last years Media That Matters Festival go here. break is over. i gave up on that whole polaroid a day dealy, too. it's just to heavy carrying around a fat polaroid camera. nick and i are about to start a new documentary. im excited, hopefully all goes well. if you want to see the documentary i made for school, Vincent Goes Vegan, go to the mvrop film fest on may 4th. hit me up for ticket information if you're interested. you should all go because there's an audience choice award and i want that fucker!

only a few more days left of break. it sucks because i have gotten so used life without school. i've been waking about around 8:30am every day. i think that's a positive change. i've been trying to keep up with that whole polaroid a day thing. so far it's not coming out artistic or tight. infact, it kinda sucks. whatevs.

has involved headless horsemen, spooky shit, waking up before the crack of dawn (literally), lots of food, lots of gas, swimming, working on our tans, and much much more. im digging it. janelle also inspired me to take one polaroid each day. ill post them all at the end of break.

the film nick and i made won first place in this festival on saturday. not only will it be shown on comcast, but we also received $600 and netflix. im really excited about the netflix. it feels good to get a pat on the back, especially in front of all my family who i dont think "get it." it was an audience voted award, so that's cool too. here are a few pictures i took before it started.
im super happy. i know i've mentioned this before, but i didnt know it was possible for me to be THIS happy for so long. every minute of every day has been full and i like that. HOWEVER, all this huck finn nature business with indy has led to itchy ass bug bites. maybe even poison oak, but it's too soon to tell.
